Hopefully Camm is taken in expansion draft, at which point why send any money or players back if EDM just wants a dead spot? If it has to be a player, then send DSP, eat 50%, and throw in whatever low pick for eating the entire Eberle contract.

With these contract deals though, Arizona is always willing to eat bad deals to hit the floor...they have next to no one making much money at forward...

It certainly would be nice to see some indication that Devil's ownership is willing to spend money because the payroll is a joke.

Eberle would be like 2 points behind Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmeri on the Devils for the team lead. Edmonton isn't desperate to dump out of him for crap like DSP and cap space and they won't clear a productive $6M player by taking on an unproductive $5M player. The Devils would need to give Edmonton some real assets to get him.

Edmonton found themselves in trouble with a few injured defensemen in the playoffs. John Moore/ John Merrill plus a pair of 2nd round picks might be worthwhile for both teams. Gives Edmonton close to 5 mil in relief while adding a low pair defenseman and picks.

Most Oiler fans I talked to is yeah, they would like to get real assets. Like a bag of pucks along with the cap space they need. 2nd & 3rd rounders along with a B prospect would make them giddy. They are deep down hoping they expose him & let Vegas take him.

What's edmontons status on players they have to protect in expansion draft are they set to lose a player of value? Basically asking if they have to make a trade prior to the expansion draft or do they have the space to protect Eberle?

The Devils aren't giving up young assets, NVM eating 1/2 Cams salary (NTC so wont work anyway) for a guy who disappeared in the PO's
Even the beat write in Edm said he needs tons of work.

"He’ll be 27 on Monday; not a spring chicken anymore. He needs to work on his release, core strength and foot speed, to keep up with the 20-year-olds who are running away with the game.
Motivated by team success and personal disappointment — he scored just 20 goals in the regular season and went 13 playoff games without one — he plans to attack all of it and be better."

$6M for 2 more years? I'd rather go out and make a trade for those same assets + picks and get what I want.

Cams will move his NTC so that Shero can move him b4 the Exp draft. Otherwise Shero will threaten to expose him, I would bet he does not want to start a new franchise with a famiuly move etc

Ebs value is at its lowest, so lets offer picks and reduced salary players for him, ah no!

One thing to consider is the Devils are below cap floor with Severson the only player due a significant raise. Remove Cammys 5 million dollar hit and they are even further below. The Devils will need to add salary, so it may very well be for useful players who have cap hits that exceed their value.

I wouldn't touch Eberle and his 6M cap hit with a 10 foot pole.

Eberle is the most overrated player in the NHL. At his price and edmonton needing to dump salary he will come cheap. They can fill his spot with Puljarvi. A 2nd should get it done.

I can't believe how much this guy's value has dropped. A year ago, can you imagine a proposal of John Moore + a couple of crappy draft picks being realistic? But it seems to be a fair reflection of his value right now. Some team (maybe Jersey) will get awesome value if they acquire him for a similar package

Sabres have Eichel Reinhart and Kane up for new contracts at the end of next season, don't see them taking on a 6miilion dollar contract. Doesn't make sense, I would also think defence is our first priority over a guy like Eberle.

The craziest part is that Edmonton can kind of afford to let him go for a "lesser package" of depth defenseman. If they get a couple guys who can slot in at the 4 and 5 roles and not be Kris Russell then it's a successful trade for them.

Yep, and it's going to surprise no one when he gets a contract with an AAV of 6 million.

K... Well, sign and trade... or...

Eberle for Kovalchuk's undying love. Either will suffice.

Solid 20 goal scorer for Cammy and picks?

I like cammy and he's one of our better players...but that's not saying much.

From EMD point of view...why? These fan made trade deals where one team gets top 4 D/top 6 winger in exchange for (insert here) declining/overpaid/ineffective/no longer wanted/substantially worse player and picks just don't happen.
